Jake Kujava

Hi there, my name is Jake Kujava. I have a Bachelor’s Degree in Art and a minor in history. I have been a cartoon artist and painter most of my life. My inspiration comes from comic books, old movies and science fiction. I compare my pieces to liquid poetry; the closer you look, the more you notice. My subjects are people and animals; I enjoy playing with the differences and interactions between them and their environment. My paintings and comics are a form of Naturalistic Expressionism. My first step in painting is a realistic outlook, which then becomes more abstract and simplified; I’m looking for a more edited, essential style of expression. Colors are brightened or muted depending upon the mood I want to express.
