Television And The Public Interest Revisited is an answer to the timeless urgency of Chairman Newton S. Minnow's original words. Revised and shortened for our social media era, the words of urgency for a nascent broadcast industry still ring true as we endlessly expand and evolve mass media communication. What was once the domain and power of just a few networks now resides in the hands of every global citizen who lives online. We possess incredible tools of human creativity ready to be unleashed into history. Decentralized publishing gives individuals the same amplification and reach that was once reserved for a privileged few. So we must ask; with these resources at hand are we working in service of our audience? - Do we create with Public Interest in mind? Chairman Minnow makes the argument that we should hold the public interest of our audiences close to heart and that for every shred of time and attention the people give us - we must be offering more than base entertainment and indulgence. Our professions are the most honorable ones, and we owe everyone the best creative culture we can produce.
